這本書也是作者很早期的書，男主角也是在女人堆裡無往不利的大男人類型，也是看了頗久，僅憑記憶補充。
女主角Maleaha是印地安混血兒，但是從小在白人世界長大，也受過良好的教育，父親是當地仕紳，男主角Kanen是東部上流社會的世家子弟，因與父親失和，遂離家到西部當軍官。男主角一見到女主角就深深受到吸引(好像很多本都這樣
)，因為對印地安人有刻板印像，認為女主角道德鬆散，所以要求女主角做他的情婦，女主角覺得受辱，兩人不歡而散。
)。
某日因印地安人襲擊白人，當地軍官認為是女主角的族人做的，女主角覺得這件事不是他們族人做的，就毛遂自薦要帶男主角一行人去找族長問明白，女主角因為怕族長強娶，就自己獻身給男主角，男主角在去印地安人的路途中重新認識女主角，愈發欽佩愛慕，隔天本想向女主角求婚，但女主角以為男主角是被自己逼迫的，就講了一些維護自尊的話讓男主角不高興，兩人不歡而散(好像這種劇情又出現了
後來男主角傷心之餘還是買了下一座牧場，準備要定居當地，一發現女主角懷孕就強娶女主角，兩人誤會還沒解開，男主角的爸爸為了說服兒子回去繼承家業就帶著自己中意的富家千金(跟男主角有過韻事)來亂......
這是一個老派的誤會與偏見的故事，男主角一開始雖然很不可一世，但後來認識女主角後也以禮相待，沒有甚麼創新的劇情，單純的愛情故事，但是男女主真的太嘴硬了，故扣1星，四星推薦。
