然而，在精神欠佳的狀況下啃完這本 Wrong Place, Wrong Time 之後，我不禁希望自己能多幾分理智和耐性，願意等到平裝版上市之後再掏出 $7.50 美金來克盡粉絲的義務
不是不好看。事實上我認為故事鋪陳的還不錯，步調比前幾本更快，也淘汰了一些會讓人覺得冗贅的對話，增添了幾許苦中作樂的幽默感。以懸疑性、佈局和角色的多元來看，我會毫不遲疑地說它值得四片葉子
遺憾的是，我只能把它當成懸疑小說來欣賞。
如果用言情羅曼史的角度來評分，我會很氣餒的宣判它不及格
我注意到.....AK 的書一本比一本暢銷，羅曼史成分卻一本比一本稀薄（這算是某種流行趨勢嘛
）。
浪漫指數照此等弧線下滑，我不敢想像她以後的作品是否會連談情說愛都省了，耳鬢廝磨也免了，只著眼於偵辦案件上。
呃，聽起來不是很令人興奮的遠景
女主角 Devon 那幾隻愛在髒衣服堆裡打滾，愛嚼襪子的「寵物」，和 Blake 那隻愛啃褲管的黃金獵犬，稱得上完美搭檔。
至少，我覺得比牠們主人的愛情，來得搭調多了
Pierson 家族的中流砥柱和餐飲業王國的接棒人 Blake 雖然是「掛名」男主角，實際上卻幾乎英雄無用武之地（除了最後那場展現他在雪中山路之駕駛技術的救援行動以外啦
）。而從紐約刑警轉行為私家偵探的 Pete Montgomery (他的兒女和同事們都叫他 Monty)，則是這本書最稱職也是最成功的角色，說他是本書的靈魂人物並無言過其實。
Monty 和 Devon 這對父女檔更是默契良好，合作無間。Devon 的演技和推理能力，顯然不輸給她當獸醫的表現。女主角能夠美貌、聰慧與膽識兼備，當然是讀者之福；只不過我仍暗自希望作者多給她一點浪漫的女性特質，多一點心思來營造她和 Blake 的戀情，而非匆促發展了事。
Pierson 家族的大家長，亦即 Blake 的爺爺 Edward，也是相當主力的一個要角，但是我個人卻覺得刻畫得不如 Devon 的老爹 Monty 來得出色。由於關係到 Edward 的長子 Frederick 的死因和兇手謀殺的動機，我不能解釋太多，以免一個失神洩露劇情。
整樁謀殺事件的幕後主使者的身分，對明察秋毫的讀者來說應該不難臆估。某些情節的安排有點太過「方便」，特別是 Monty 由主謀者口中輕易套出他和 Sally 以及 Merry（他的前妻和女兒，也就是 Devon 的媽媽與妹妹）三人即將被「謀殺和棄屍」的地點的那部分......
不曉得作者將來會不會繼續以 Monty 為靈魂人物，寫 Devon 的哥哥 Lane 和妹妹 Merry 的故事.....
