同樣是誤會，茱迪•麥娜的故事就讓我吃不消，而Elizabeth Boyle編造的這個誤會，卻讓我很受落。
女主角Felicity的父母已經去世，律師拒絕在她25歲前把她名下的遺產發放給她。倔強的她身無分文卻帶著妹妹和表妹來到倫敦，準備參加社交季給妹妹和表妹找到丈夫。第一關，房子！大都市，居不易，沒錢住哪裏？這可難不倒Felicity，她看到報紙上報道的一個貴族去世後，因為遺囑不詳細導致幾個子女展開一場爭奪戰，她知道這種官司會持續至少幾個月，在這幾個月期間，房子是空著無人居住的，於是她換掉門鎖，搬進這個位於高尚地段的房子，準備開始她的獵夫行動(她沒打算白住，她想好了，等拿到屬於自己的錢，按市價付房租給房東)。準確地說，她不是準備獵夫，因為她自以為已經有了“準”未婚夫。四年前，Felicity寫信給當時的Hollindrake公爵(即男主角Thatcher的祖父)，毛遂自薦，認為自己是個合格的公爵夫人候選人。Hollindrake公爵經過一番調查，覺得她適合自己的孫子，就開始假冒Thatcher與她通信，這信一寫，就是四年。這四年當中，Thatcher都在外國打伏呢，對此毫不知情。等到祖父去世，他回來繼承爵位，一發現這件荒謬的事，就立刻馬不停蹄趕到倫敦，準備找到Felicity澄清這件事，解除這個不存在的“婚約”。故事一開始，就是Thatcher風塵仆仆連衣服也沒換就去到Felicity家，而Felicity一開門，看到Thatcher馬上就誤會他是中介幫她找到的男仆。當誤會遇上誤會，故事就此上演。不用猜，肯定是二人在糾纏過程中相愛，Felicity的糾結在於她應該嫁給男仆還是通信四年的公爵“準”未婚夫？Thatcher的糾結是，他應該什麽時候挑明身份讓誤會不再繼續？作者娓娓道來，不讓人抓狂，卻讓你想一口氣看下去。
這本書與Lynsay Sands的《Love Is Blind》一樣，都是很可愛的誤會，不會讓人咬牙切齒想摔書。五葉推薦給大家。
